Celebrating goals these days comes with a risk. The possibility of the VAR boffins finding a minuscule detail that nobody noticed in the build up to the goal and thus disallowing it means that limbs – the best part of football – are often severely dampened by fear of embarrassment.
Normally, you can write off this embarrassment as everyone supporting the unlucky team will have been in the same boat. You dust yourself off, curse the referee, and move one.
But when you film yourself celebrating a goal, continue filming as it is disallowed, and then for some reason upload that video to the internet, you are asking to be mocked in the name of content.
And so it should come as no surprise that this video of some Chelsea fans losing their shit after Ben Chilwell (or Wes Morgan?) scored what we all thought was a late equaliser for the Blues in the dying moments of the FA Cup final, before realising it had been ruled out for a marginal offside, went viral.
