WATCH: Furious Petr Cech rages at Mike Dean’s decision to award controversial penalty

"I was not rude, I just asked the question"

With good reason, Petr Cech wasn’t happy after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at West Brom.

A deflected Alexis Sanchez free-kick had given the visitors the lead with minutes to go at The Hawthorns, only for Alan Pardew’s side to score a late equaliser from a controversially-awarded penalty. Referee Mike Dean deemed Callum Chambers to have handled the ball in his area illegally, presenting Jay Rodriguez with the opportunity to level the scores.

Several Arsenal players were seen in discussion with Dean following full-time. Cech was one of them, and was shown a yellow card by the referee for his trouble…

Shortly after, he explained what had happened to Sky Sports, saying that he had asked Dean why he’d given the decision when players are told by referees prior to each season that they will not be penalised for handball when they have no time to react and their hands are by their sides.

As the video below shows, Cech was clearly very frustrated.
