Never a dull day in the life of José Mourinho

So close, and yet so far.

José Mourinho’s Manchester United came within seconds of securing their second consecutive league win after coming from behind, only for Ross Barkley to spoil the party.

Anthony Martial had given United the lead with two excellent finishes after Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring, and it looked as though they had held on for all three points.

But Barkley, who had come off the bench, sparked wild celebrations with his late, late equaliser. Celebrations that didn’t go down too well on the Manchester United bench.

One of Chelsea’s staff, reportedly a sports scientist, ran past United’s technical area during the celebratory scenes, sparking a furious reaction from Mourinho.

The United boss jumped up from his seat, chasing the Chelsea man down the tunnel. The Portuguese had to be restrained by stewards to prevent the scrap from becoming violent.

In his post-match interview, it was put to Mourinho that the match would be remembered more for the fracas after the equaliser than the actual football, to which he responded: “The 97 minutes game was so good that you have to focus on that.”
