We love the FA Cup.
Upsets. Goalkeepers winning pizza. Joe Hart wearing a fan’s cap. This weekend has provided some brilliant stories.
The FA Cup third round weekend has provided us with many moments of magic and charm, as it always does. This weekend Leeds United were knocked out by League 2 side Newport County, who came back from 1-0 down to beat the Yorkshire side.
Leeds fans are used to disappointment by now, though, after the last 15 years. They were determined to enjoy their away day, as was one of the policeman working at the game.
Clearly a Leeds fan, this copper joined in with Leeds fans’ chants, to the delight of the fans.

It’s a rare sight to see a policeman indulge in some lighthearted fun with football fans, who are often unfairly painted in a negative light. But this video shows the potential for a healthy relationship between fans and police, if respect is shown in both directions. The policeman even earned himself a round of applause from the appreciative fans.
Leeds may have lost the tie, but hopefully this moment injected a bit of joy into their otherwise disappointing day at the Rodney Parade. Yes, Newport’s ground is really called that.
