Rio Ferdinand has given a further insight into Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible ambition to reach the very top of the game.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Fletch & Sav show, Ferdinand revealed how he and other Manchester United players used to wind up Ronaldo about the man he replaced at Old Trafford in 2003 – David Beckham.
“We’d be in the changing room – myself, Quinton Fortune, Darren Fletcher and Wayne Rooney – and we’d tell him ‘Becks is the real Number 7. He’s the Daddy. Beckham is up here. Ronaldo is down here’,” said Rio.
“He used to go mad. He’d be boiling up; you could see it. He was that determind to be a superstar.”
