Allez les bleus, allez

If you haven’t heard this song by now, you must have been living under a rock. A rock with no WiFi. On a different planet.

After France won the World Cup, French rapper Vegedream released the greatest sport and hip-hop crossover in history (sorry, John Barnes).

Ramenez la coupe à la maison, which translates to ‘bring the cup home’, became the summer’s biggest hit with its infectiously catchy beat and lyrics dedicated to the World Cup winning squad.

At Monday night’s Ballon d’Or gala in Paris, Vegedream came out on stage to perform the song. It wasn’t quite as special as when he was joined by the French squad at the Stade de France, but it was brilliant nonetheless.

David Ginola introduced the rapper and threw some very Dad shapes during the performance. Dressed in a sparkly gold jacket, Vegedream high-fived French players in the front row, ignoring Luka Modrić – ouch. Although he’s probably not that bitter having won the literal Ballon d’Or.

The performance was a reminder of the greatness of France’s 2018 team and just how likeable this France squad is.

Enjoy.
