Everton have reached the Europa League play-off round.
A late goal from Dominic Calvert-Lewin was enough to hand them a 1-0 win in their second leg against MFK Ruzomberok on Thursday evening – sealing a 2-0 aggregate victory over the Slovakian side.
The game also marked Wayne Rooney’s second competitive appearance for his boyhood club since his return from Manchester United earlier in the summer. His first, which came in the Goodison Park leg of the tie a week ago, saw him mocked on social media for a wayward shot.
With the Premier League season still over a week ago, it’s completely understandable that Rooney is yet to reach peak levels of performance – not that this prevented people poking more fun at the England’s all-time leading goal-scorer for another miscued effort…
Picked out by Tom Davies, Rooney’s attempt to hook a bouncing cross goal-ward resulted in him standing on the ball and falling over, much to the amusement of many sharing the footage on Twitter moments later.

Poor Wayne.
Everton kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Stoke next weekend. Rooney will then make his first return to Manchester since his United exit when Everton visit City at the Etihad on August 21.
