Watford denied penalty as ball hits Vincent Kompany’s arm

A big call

Manchester City’s hopes of completing a domestic treble might have taken a sizeable dent during the first half of the FA Cup final on Saturday.

With the score 0-0, Watford posed plenty of threat to the Premier League champions in the early stages at Wembley. Ederson had to be alert to keep the Hornets out with little over ten minutes played, out quickly to deny Roberto Pereyra.

Soon after, there were strong appeals for a penalty when Abdoulaye Doucouré’s shot appeared to strike the arm of City captain Vincent Kompany.

The decision was waved away and no penalty was given, despite VAR being used in the game.

Plenty watching seemed to think the officials had made the wrong call…

No penalty given, Watford found themselves a goal behind five minutes later as David Silva gave City the lead. A second goal for Pep Guardiola’s side followed, Gabriel Jesus scoring seven minutes from half-time.
