Over the last year or so, several high profile names have left European clubs to make a shit load of money embark on exciting new chapters in their careers in the Chinese Super League.

According to reports, Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney could also have been plying his trade in China, had he accepted a recent offer from Beijing Guoan.

Luo Ning, the club’s honorary chairman, confirmed on Sports Night Talks that they’d approached Rooney about a possible move east, only for the 31-year-old to spurn their advances after a meeting with his agent.

“We indeed made an approach for Rooney at the beginning of the season but he’s informed us that he wants to stay in Manchester United.

“Rooney says he’ll keep playing in the Premier League as long as his health allows. We even met with his agent.”

Having opted to stay put in Manchester, Rooney has lost his starting place in the United side and has been widely criticised by supporters for his performances when he has taken to the field. Many believe that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, although Rooney previously admitted that he didn’t see himself representing any other Premier League club than United or boyhood club, Everton.
