What time is the Charity Shield? TV channel info for Manchester United vs Leicester City

Everything you need to know ahead of kick off

Rob Burnett

According to David Moyes, it’s the first trophy of the season.

According to everybody else, it’s a nice warm-up friendly which signals that the Premier League is about to return after a long summer.

And after the excitement of the Euros (well, some of it was good), today is the day the last season’s title winners and FA Cup victors walk out at Wembley to get us off and running with the Charity Shield.

We still can’t quite believe that Leicester City won the Premier League (and by an incredible 10 points!) but they actually did.

So today Claudio Ranieri will lead them out under the arch to face seasoned Charity Shield protagonists, Manchester United.

United were at Wembley just a few short months ago to win the FA Cup under Louis van Gaal, but it’s been all change since then of course, with Jose Mourinho now in the manager’s office.

So, what are the details? Here is everything you need to know.

Manchester United Officially Introduce Jose Mourinho as Their New Manager

What time is the match?

Kick off time is 4pm.

How can I watch it?

The game is being shown on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport 2 HD.

Who is the referee?

Craig Pawson is taking charge of the match.

What are the bosses saying?

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri:

“All managers and players want to play at Wembley Stadium. It’s one of the most famous stadiums in the world. This is not a friendly. We will give the maximum and also Manchester United will too. Both teams want to win it.”

United boss Jose Mourinho:

“We have Leicester before the Premier League and it is not a training session – it is a game. We have to face it as a game. We have the chance to give minutes to some people. Some who I know cannot play for 90 minutes, but of course we are going to try to win it.”

Who’s going to win?

We’re good, but we’re not that good.
