The Boston Red Sox won the 2018 World Series at the end of October – their fourth win in 15 years.
To celebrate the win, they held a street parade in Boston. It was exactly how you’d expect it to be: thousands of adoring fans packed the streets, while the team paraded through waving – though instead of being on an open-top bus, they rode through the streets on amphibious ‘duck boats’.

It was pretty rowdy event – they always are – but something very unfortunate happened to the trophy itself.
As the players proudly displayed the World Series trophy from the top deck of the bus, out of nowhere it was hit by a flying beer can.
As you can see in the video, the can did quite a bit of damage to the trophy.
Officials from the Red Sox told the Boston Herald: “It’s very minor damage and is going to be fixed right away.”
The trophy wasn’t the only thing that got hit however – manager Alex Cora was also struck by a can.

17-year-old Patrick Connolly was quickly arrested for chucking can, after Cora and a member of the security team pointed him out.
“I love Cora, I didn’t mean to hit him,” he was reported to have said by the Herald.
Six people were arrested in all.
