What a man

WWE legend Matt Hardy has announced that he will be stepping away from the world of wrestling.

In a video posted on his own YouTube channel, entitled ‘Time to go home’, the 43-year-old announced that he was done performing in the ring.

Announcing the news, Hardy said: “Tonight here in Corpus Cristi is most likely, the last time you’ll ever see Woken Matt Hardy in a WWE ring.”

He is asked what his plans are following his retirement, and he replied: “Well, I’ve got two young kids and a wife. It’s time to go home.

Watching the video you would be forgiven for thinking it was a scripted scene, and that it might be a part of some televised angle.

But it appears to be genuine.

In the video, Matt Hardy explained that he would “never say never”, but that he really felt like his time was up.

He also released a touching statement, saying: “Thank you for letting me live my dream for 26 years, wrestling fans. I don’t necessarily wish it was this way, but it’s time to go home.

“Time to go home and be a father. Time to go home and be a husband. I did so much more than I ever imagined I would do. Thanks for making this incredible journey with me, ladies and gentlemen. I love you all.”

Let’s watch The Hardy Boy’s entrance at Wrestlemania 33 one more time just for good measure.
