A rather unsubtle statement from Yaya Toure’s agent
Yaya Toure left Manchester City at the end of last season after eight years at the Etihad Stadium. The Ivorian legend is now a free agent after a Premier League career which has seen him win the league on three occasions.
His agent, the always entertaining Dimitry Seluk – of Yaya didn’t get a birthday cake fame – confirmed in a tweet this week that Yaya had passed a medical in London and was close to signing a new contract.
Understandably this pushed the rumour mill into overdrive, with fans of numerous London clubs theorising over which club he could possibly be joining.
It couldn’t be a Premier League side (or at the very least it is very unlikely to be) because the vast majority of top flight do not have a vacant place in their registered league squads.
As such, many assumed, it must be a Championship side.
Either way, there is one team that it definitely isn’t. And that team is West Ham United, who Seluk felt compelled to deny his client was joining.
Seluk, unless you cannot see the tweet below, said: “It’s not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him.”
This was likely referring to West Ham having a total of zero points after three games of the season and, while it is funny, it does seem like slightly unnecessary trolling. Ah well.
It's not West Ham, 100%.
Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him 😃 https://t.co/eDGeI0EvFf— Dimitry Seluk (@dmitriseluk) August 28, 2018
