Justin Gaethje is set to compete for the very unofficial but hard-to-argue-with honour of the UFC’s most violent man title on Saturday night.
Gaethje is set to clash with former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218 and, before a punch is thrown, many are expecting the 155lbs clash to be a Fight of the Year contender.
Gaethje already staked his claim for that accolade with his debut in the Octagon as he came out on top in a dramatic, back-and-forth encounter with Michael Johnson in July, announcing himself to UFC-exclusive mixed martial arts fans in stunning style.
It remains entirely likely that neither Gaethje nor Alvarez will be willing to take a single backwards at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
But as tough as Gaethje might be and as brutal as his output undeniably is, that doesn’t mean ‘The Highlight’ doesn’t enjoy a bit of fun.
After successfully weighing in at 156lbs, the undefeated Gaethje kindly offered to lend UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway a helping hand.
Holloway needed to strip off his boxer shorts to make the 145lbs limit on the eve of his rematch with Jose Aldo and required a towel to shield his privates from the reporters in attendance at the official weigh-ins in Friday.
Gaethje was only too happy to offer assistance but not before having a bit of a laugh by whipping the towel up to embarrass his compatriot as he took to the scales.
Holloway didn’t seem to mind all that much as he was likely more concerned with getting some water into his body than with the fact that some journalists saw his penis.
Hawaii’s Holloway has previously hinted at a move to lightweight so who’s to say that he doesn’t get his retribution against Gaethje in the Octagon at some point in the future?
