Neymar gets a lot of stick, but he’s undoubtedly good to his supporters
Paris Saint-German picked up another victory against Nimes yesterday, beating the newly promoted side 4-2.
Neymar was on the scoresheet once again, and celebrated by mocking the banner unveiled by the Nimes fans that labelled him a “crybaby”, by pretending to cry as he stood next to it.
This sort of behaviour, as well as his theatrics on the pitch and his innate need to be the most important player in any team attract a lot of criticism, but one thing he can’t be criticised for is how he treats his fans.
Neymar is an icon in Brazil and Paris, especially among children who look up to him as a godlike figure. One young fan decided to run onto the pitch after the match yesterday as Neymar came jogging along the touchline. The young boy was in floods of joyous tears as he was embraced by his idol.
Neymar indulged the fan for a long time, when he could have quite easily shrugged him off. He then went one step further and gave the fan his jersey.
Small acts of kindness can make a fan’s day, and create memories that they will never forget, and it’s this sort of thing for which Neymar deserves recognition, regardless of what else he may be guilty of.
Malgré que ça soit une salope sur le terrain, bravo à toi @neymarjr #NOPSG pic.twitter.com/K0tYPHzziQ
