Zinedine Zidane’s agent discusses rumours linking Zizou to Manchester United

"It’s not his style."

Zinedine Zidane doesn’t fancy the Manchester United job.

Zidane has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks as pressure built on current United boss Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho earned what many consider a stay of execution with a dramatic comeback victory over Newcastle on Saturday evening but it wouldn’t exactly be surprising if another man is in charge next season, if Mourinho lasts that long.

Several reports claimed that Zidane had already been contacted by the Red Devils and one journalist over the weekend was convinced that Mourinho was set to be sacked regardless of the result against Newcastle.

But Mourinho remains in the job and United might have to look elsewhere for his successor because Zidane’s agent Alain Migliaccio doesn’t expect to see the former Real Madrid manager in a Premier League dugout any time soon.

Migliaccio suggested that his client is still recovering from his time at the helm at the Santiago Bernabeu and claims that Zidane has told him that he’s not interested in managing an English club.

Migliaccio told Journal du Dimanche: “He was exhausted in terms of nerves, he has chosen to take a sabbatical year and he won’t go back on that.

“I don’t think he’ll go to England, it’s not his style.

“I’ve spoken about it with him and the truth is that it doesn’t attract him.”

Zidane left Real Madrid in the summer after delivering the club’s third consecutive Champions League trophy and while it’s unlikely to be the last we see of Zizou as a manager of a high-profile club, the Premier League doesn’t seem to appeal to him.

Mourinho, meanwhile, is not concerned about losing his job and received a reassuring text message from a senior figure at United ahead of the thrilling win over Newcastle.

He told talkSPORT: “The ones that read the papers, that are connected with social media, they thought maybe I had gone [been sacked].

“If I hadn’t had an SMS from my board not to read [into the speculation], I would have been convinced too.”
