Zlatan compares himself to Mayweather and Pacquiao in first MUTV interview

Signing of the century?

He’s certainly not lacking in confidence.

Manchester United supporters are ecstatic after signing one of the most gifted and feared centre-forwards of the last decade. Rival fans are mocking the deal to pay a 34-year-old ‘has-been’ hundreds of thousands of pounds a week. And Zlatan? He’s just taking it all in his stride.

Ibrahimovic was finally unveiled to the public as a Red Devil on Friday evening, and it’s fair to say it caused quite a commotion in the world of football. If nothing else, everyone is now desperately looking forward to how the enigmatic Swede performs in the Premier League.

Indeed Zlatan did little to quell the hysteria around the move during his first official interview for the in-house club channel, MUTV. Amongst the normal platitudes and kind words about his new club and manager, the former PSG man acknowledged the excitement around the deal.

Never one to talk himself down, he claimed the transfer was akin to one of the most widely-anticipated boxing matches of recent times – Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, a.k.a ‘The Fight of the Century’.

“I compare it [the move] with the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight,” his Zlatanness explained. “They said it would never happen but it happened.”

He’d be half decent if he had a bit of an ego…
