Barring an upset, Wednesday night’s match in Nice will be an historic occasion.
With Sweden staring an early  Euro 2016 exit in the face, it seems that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will represent his national team for the last time in the match with Belgium.
Ahead of the match, the 34-year-old announced that he will retire from international football after Sweden exit Euro 2016.
“I am very proud of what I have achieved and will always bring the Swedish flag with me,” he said.
Somewhat predictably, his performances in the first two matches of the tournament have prompted plenty of tweets like these:

Zlatan is widely expected to join Manchester United next season, having announced last month that he would leave Paris Saint-Germain.
Recent reports had suggested that he would be representing his country at the Rio Olympics in August after he was named in the provisional squad for the Swedish team. However, Zlatan also confirmed that today’s announcement meant that he would not be boarding the plane to Brazil.
Who knows? Perhaps a certain Jose Mourinho has had a word?
A win for Belgium will bring an end to the Swedish Euro 2016 campaign after defeat to Italy in their most recent match and a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland in their opener.
Sweden’s final group game will earn Zlatan his 116th cap for his country. He is Sweden’s top scorer with 62 goals.
