Zlatan Ibrahimović might be returning to Europe sooner than expected

The Swedish superstar claims to have an offer from a European club and could return to the continent after a spell with LA Galaxy in MLS before he retires

Is he already bored of MLS?

When Zlatan Ibrahimović joined LA Galaxy, most saw it as his first step towards retirement. That’s how it goes, right? Europe, America, retirement.

Usually it is anyway. On occasion, some players realise they’ve still got enough in the tank to have another crack at Europe. Remember when Jermain Defoe went to Toronto, only to return to the Premier League, keep Sunderland up, and then join Bournemouth?

Well it looks like Zlatan might do the same – not join Sunderland, but return to Europe.

As reported by Fotbollskanalenthe Swedish superstar is open to a return to his first professional club, Malmö FF.

In an Instagram video with journalist Calle Schullman, Zlatan revealed that he has an offer from the club should he want to return to Sweden.

Zlatan said that Malmö want him to finish his career there, and that he does not close any doors, so a return is well within the realms of possibility.

The striker is 36 now, and suffered a serious knee injury during his time at Manchester United that effectively ended his time at Old Trafford, but has bounced back well and is scoring regularly in Major League Soccer.

His powers will start to fade eventually though, so if he does want to end his career where it began, he should probably head back sooner rather than later.
