Zlatan Ibrahimovic seeking “revenge” on Pep Guardiola, claims his agent

Stoking the fire

It’s not confirmed yet, but all the signs suggest that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be heading to Manchester United in the near future.

Reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho wants him at Old Trafford in time for the start of the season, after the 34-year-old announced he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Back in the 2009-10 season, Zlatan played under Pep Guardiola at Barcelona. By the end of the season, the pair’s relationship had broken down, and the Swede was soon shown the Nou Camp door.

With Guardiola due to report for work at Manchester City in the days ahead, Zlatan’s agent has stoked the fire nicely.

Mino Railoa has been a busy man in the last couple of days. As well as telling Spanish media that he’s in discussions with Real Madrid about Paul Pogba – one of his other clients – he’s also implied that Zlatan is keen to put one over his old boss.

“I think [Ibrahimovic] wants revenge on Guardiola, although he does not live for it because you shouldn’t have two graves – one for him and one for the enemy,” he said.

“It seems destiny wants to see that meeting take place. One option is to go to the Premier League but for as long as Sweden continue in the Euros there will be no solution.

“You learn more from defeats than you do from victories and Zlatan learned a lot from what happened with Guardiola.

“As a person, I don’t like him either.  Zlatan admits he is a great coach and I can think it, but I refuse to admit it.”

With Sweden heading into their final group match against Belgium with one point, Zlatan could be heading to Old Trafford in the very near future.
