If you let them, your Snapchat friends will be able to view your snaps for as long as they wish.
The original appeal of Snapchat was based on the fact that picture messages sent via the app were only available for a short space of time before disappearing into the ether.
The clue is sort of in the name after all.
From today, May 9, however, Snapchat users can avail of a new ‘infinity’ setting to the timer on the app, allowing their friends or whoever receives their snaps to view them for as long as they damn well wish.
Currently, Snapchat users can avail of an option to replay snaps (just once) and there are reportedly more complicated methods of viewing snaps that are supposed to have vanished, but the infinity option will allow the recipient view a Snap until they tap to close it, when it will delete as usual.
As well as the addition of the infinity setting, Snapchat also announced that they are reorganising the layout of their creative tools, adding a magic eraser and a new Loop tool for videos, so you can decide if your Snap plays once or loops until your friend is ready to tap to the next Snap.
In a blog post, Snapchat said that “these changes allow us to continue evolving the Snapchat service and provide a foundation for introducing even more creative tools for making fun Snaps!”
You probably had no need for another excuse for Snapchat procrastination, but now you have it.
