Spotify unveils three new original podcasts for your commute

Anyone for an extra hour on the treadmill?

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Your commute to work is about to get a lot more interesting.

Spotify has added three new original podcasts to its offering and they are guaranteed to help you while away an hour on the bus or at the gym.

The streaming service is kicking off the trio with Showstopper, hosted by The Fader editor Naomi Zeichner. With new episodes released biweekly (the first is out now), the series will focus on music in television, interviewing music supervisors on shows such as HBO’s Girls and the Netflix hit Stranger Things.

On March 14, Spotify will premiere Unpacked, which will see Broad City music supervisor Matt FX and Spotify’s Michele Santucci visit various American music festivals, interviewing all manner of creatives, from musicians to chefs, during their journey.

April will see the launch of The Chris Lighty Story, hosted by Reggie Ossé with commentary from hip hop stars such as Warren G, Russell Simmons and Fat Joe.

The late Lighty was a US music industry exec and founder of the record label Violator, which represented hip hop artists such as Nas, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep, Missy Elliott and L.L. Cool J. The show will take a deeper look at his career and connections.
