A new take on the Robin Hood story.
Very few people can accuse Australian actress Margot Robbie of being lazy.
After a busy 2016 that saw her star in Suicide Squad, The Legend of Tarzan and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, she’s straight back in front of the camera in the upcoming Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya.
The Wolf of Wall Street actress is clearly enjoying being able to kick-ass on screen because after reprising her role as Harley Quinn for David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens, she look set to play Maid Marian in a new film that takes an alternate look at the Robin Hood mythology.
Sony have acquired Pete Barry’s script that’s being described by Deadline as“Braveheart meets Game of Thrones.” They’ve also reported that Robbie is attached to play the lead.
The plot of Marian is as follows: “After a conspiracy to conquer England in which the love of her life Robin Hood dies before her eyes, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom but will see her don the mantle of the man she loved. In the process, she rises as a legend herself.”
It seems that the classic tale of Robin Hood is hot property in Hollywood right now because another adaptation is also in the works.
Otto Bathurst is directing Robin Hood: Origins with Taron Egerton, Jamie Dornan, Jamie Foxx and Ben Mendelsohn starring.
Still though. Game of Thrones meets Braveheart, eh?

A role that somehow manages to combine Princess Isabella of France and Daenerys Targeryn would be very interesting indeed. There probably won’t be dragons. Boo!
