Airline food has a reputation for being a little lacklustre. That could all change.
If you’re flying out of Newcastle Airport, you will no longer be forced to settle for an overpriced sandwich or picking at a bag of peanuts.
You can have a goddamn doner kebab.
Whether you’re catching an early flight out to Amsterdam or nursing the mother of all hangovers on the way back from Ibiza, you can grab a tasty doner from Pita & Brew, Newcastle Airport’s “brand new grab and go concept”.

The kebabs cost £6.95 each, with breakfast pitas available before 11:30am every day, and if you’re heading to catch a flight, you can have your kebab boxed up to take on the plane.
“There has been huge growth in our catering concepts at the airport,” said Newcastle Airport’s commercial manager Dean Ward.
“This is a grab and go concept and offers something a little bit different and it comes as a result of feedback we have had from customers. They want more healthier options.
“We also believe the fact you can have your order boxed to take on the plane with you will prove very popular. If you have time, of course, you can also enjoy it in Pita and Brew itself.”
This is a game-changer. If all other airports could follow suit, it would be much appreciated. Goodbye meal deal, hello doner.
