UKIP has a new leader.
The honour of leading the party forward has fallen on the shoulders of Henry Bolton, who will become the party’s fourth leader in just over a year.
Bolton, an ex-soldier, won 30% of the vote, seeing off Anne Marie Waters’s challenge.
But wait… what’s this?
Henry Bolton is Ukip leader… Bolton… Wasn't that the megaprick family in Game Of Thrones that tore up man with dogs? Shit
— Archie W Maddocks (@ArchieMaddocks) September 29, 2017
Yes. Yes it was. And you, Archie W Maddocks, are not the only person to make such a comment…
As Game of Thrones fans will testify, the Boltons – Roose, and even more so his bastard son Ramsay – were indeed ‘megapricks’. Long before being ripped apart by dogs (don’t give us that spoilers shit now – that was Season 6), Ramsay tortured Theon Greyjoy into submission, eventually cutting his dick off and sending it back over to the Iron Islands to his dad. Nice.
Although nobody is suggesting the new UKIP leader is capable of kidnap and torture, or that he might one day be fed alive to a pack of dogs by his political opponents, plenty were quick to make the connection to Game of Thrones’ most notorious characters…

I hear they've elected a Bolton to run UKIP. Has Game of Thrones taught us nothing?

If Game of Thrones has taught us anything, it's to be wary of a Bolton #UKIP

Heard a podcast joking that Game of Thrones is set in a post-brexit Britain, and now there's a Bolton in charge of UKIP 🤔

Henry Bolton? Isn't he from Game of Thrones? #ukip

Trust UKIP to elect a Bolton.
Their party will soon be reflective of the Games of Thrones equivalent— Ben Procter (@BenProcter) September 29, 2017
Henry Bolton – any relation to the Game of Thrones Boltons? #ukip #reek #wotchit

Would make a Game of Thrones joke about Henry Bolton being named Ukip leader but someone has probably beaten me to it
