This is going to be so good.
Given the multitude of heroes, villains and Infinity Stones that we’ve already seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you might be excused for thinking that there aren’t too many surprises left.
Well, brace yourself because Marvel is about to unleash their ultimate hidden weapon and it’s in the form of a director that hails from Wellington, New Zealand.
In my own humble opinion, very few filmmakers are in such a rich vein of form quite like Taika Waititi.
In case you need reminding, he’s the comic genius that directed the likes of Hunt for the Wilderpeople (our favourite film of 2016), the superb What We Do In the Shadows, Eagle vs Shark and various episodes of The Inbetweeners and Flight of the Conchords.
We were absolutely delighted to see that Marvel announced him as the man responsible for making Thor: Ragnarok and after seeing the first trailer, we knew that the third Thor film had the potential to be the best one yet.
Well, the first reactions to the film are in on social media, and they’re universally glowing.
#ThorRagnarok is a ton of fun! Self-contained MCU plot, but character work is awesome, and the adventure a thrill. Best of the Thor movies! pic.twitter.com/tQ8DuCcwxM

Thor Ragnarok is one of the funniest Marvel Studio movies thus far, definitely the best Thor film. Loved Mark Mothersbaugh’s score.

#ThorRagnarok is laugh out loud funny from start to finish. Stumbles a bit in the first act, but it triumphs when it gets weird with it.

THOR RAGNAROK is hilarious & weird & offbeat & retro & sublime. Love how Marvel let Taika Waititi make a movie that's Waititi-ish as hell.

We can’t wait.
