Antonio Conte’s had better nights than this…
After a thrilling 3-3 draw with Roma at Stamford Bridge a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea went down 3-0 in the Italian capital – ensuring a miserable return to his home country for Conte.
The English champions made the worst possible start to the game, conceding to a Stephan El Shaarawy thunderbolt after just 38 seconds. Roma doubled their lead through the same scorer before the break – a goal coming courtesy of a mistake from Antonio Rüdiger – before Diego Perotti added a third in the second half.
Needless to say, Chelsea’s defending could’ve been better on the night, as is highlighted by the following footage which has been doing the rounds since the second half of the match.
In it we see a ball played through to former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko. As he advances towards the Chelsea box, he’s closed down by not one, not two, but three opponents, none of which are able to prevent the Bosnian turning and laying the ball off for a completely unmarked Perotti inside the penalty area.
Fortunately for Chelsea, Perotti isn’t able to convert on this occasion.
Take a look. It’s hard to argue with the ‘worst defending ever seen’ description.
