This is a VERY exciting development
While fans of the Dad-From-Malcolm-In-The-Middle-Sells-Drugs show are still missing it all of these years later, they have at least had the spin-off show on Netflix to enjoy.
And at least that show did the right thing of including some of the best characters from Breaking Bad, with Saul himself (or Jimmy McGill, at least in some respect), as well as Mike Ehrmantraut, but it looks like the show will crossover even more with Breaking Bad for the next season.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan told The Hollywood Reporter:
“It gets darker, it gets richer. It’s still got funny in it, but on the Venn diagram of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the overlap in the center is getting bigger and bigger … There is a very important character — I’m not promising you ever saw this character, but there was a very important character nonetheless from the Breaking Bad era who we’re going to meet this year.”
We know that Season Four of Better Call Saul is set to arrive this August, and during that same interview, the show’s lead star Bob Odenkirk (who is enjoying a big career resurgence, as he also appears in this summer’s Incredibles 2) revealed that this new season could be exploring the years of the Breaking Bad story, but just told from Saul’s point of view.
Could that mean we’ll eventually be seeing Walter White and Jesse Pinkman back together again?
Probably not, but we can dream, can’t we??
