The charge relates to an incident during a Sheffield United Women game against Tottenham Hotspur Ladies
Sheffield United Woman forward Sophie Jones has been charged by the Football Association with the alleged racist abuse of Tottenham Hotspur Ladies player Renee Hector.
The charge relates to an incident which took place during an FA Women’s Championship match between the Blades and Spurs on January 6 in which Hector claimed that she had “received some monkey noises from an opposition player”.

“The club works closely with the EFL, the FA and Kick it Out and would like to reiterate that it does not condone racism or any form of discrimination,” a statement from Sheffield United said.
“Sheffield United will not comment further on the subject until the conclusion of the formal FA disciplinary hearing.”

Hector’s complaint regarding the alleged racist abuse was first made public in a social media post on Twitter shortly after the match, at which her club stated publicly that the allegations had been reported to both the referee and the FA.
The Club is aware of allegations of racial abuse made by Renée Hector following today’s victory at Sheffield United Women, that were reported to the referee by the player during the match. [1/2]
