Fresh from the success of Interstellar and True Detective, the Matthew McConaissance is set to continue at Cannes this year.
McConaughey, who won Best Actor at last year’s Oscars for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, will head to the French Riviera for the debut of Palme d’Or nominated The Sea of Trees, in which he stars alongside Ken Watanabe.

Other films in contention for the award include Sicario, a hard-hitting crime thriller starring Benicio Del Toro, and a big-budget Macbeth adaptation with Michael Fassbender in the title role.
After getting the adrenaline flowing with blockbusters like Batman v Superman and Avengers: Age of Ultron, we might need something slower-paced to calm us down.
The Cannes Film Festival begins in less than one month’s time, on May 13.
