Sage Northcutt was knocked out in brutal style during his ONE FC debut on Saturday. The former UFC posterboy (11-3) only survived 29 seconds against Cosmo Alexandre (8-1), a six-time Muay Thai world champion.
A hulking overhand right froze Northcutt in his stride before collapsing face-first into the canvas.
He revealed the punch put him in hospital, requiring a nine-hour surgery to repair eight fractures.
Demonstrating an admirable degree of positivity, Northcutt posted on Instagram: “Fresh out of surgery…I had 8 fractures and a nine hour intense operation. Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from ONE FC, my family/friends and fans! My Terminator face is not too Shabby. ‘I’ll be back!’ Next post is catheter removal.”

Fellow fighter and absolute hardman Cub Swanson had some reassuring words for super Sage, indicating that severe facial injury is no barrier to a UFC return.
Hey @sagenorthcutt I had almost the exact same injury in 2011 & I was back in the Octagon a few months later. I’m sure you’ll comeback stronger than ever too 🙏🏽
