Porsche maintain that Paul Walker was at fault for his own death

It’s coming up to two years since actor Paul Walker tragically lost his life at the tender age of just 40.

Following his death in 2013, his daughter Meadow has argued that Porsche were to blame for her father’s passing. In September of this year she filed a wrongful death case claiming the car manufacturer took safety shortcuts.

Walker was the passenger in a 2005 Carrera GT when his friend crashed into a lamp post and the car burst into flames. Meadow Walker contests that the vehicle is a ‘a dangerous car that doesn’t belong on the street.’

She alleges that that Porsche failed to install the necessary safety features in the car. ‘Absent these defects in the Porsche Carrera GT, Paul Walker would be alive today,’ claims the suit.

But in legal papers filed by Porsche, they argue that the actor was ‘a knowledgeable and sophisticated user of the 2005 Carrera GT’, and that he ‘knowingly and voluntarily assumed all risk’.

An investigation found that the vehicle was travelling at 94mph in a 45mph zone when it hit the lamp post. Meadow Walker argues that the car was travelling much slower at the point of collision, and that her father’s seatbelt was defective.
