Not so sure about that one, Piers…
It’s been a while since Piers Morgan’s public walk-off live on-air of Good Morning Britain and although he hasn’t been silent, by any means, we’ve certainly heard less about him in the last couple of weeks. Piers, that’s your cue.
Morgan has given his first proper interview since leaving the show and his public feud with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Unsurprisingly, it was Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson who gave him his first platform post the public polemic; Piers has been linked with a return to America ever since the incident. Most uninspiring transfer story ever.
You can watch a clip down below but the most notable soundbite for the tell-all interview is, no doubt, his belief that he has the “universal support” of the British public following the row. It seems Piers is either pretending or is genuinely unaware that he has been one of the UK’s most controversial and divisive household names of the last 10-15 years.

In the full, over an hour-long interview, Morgan talks about everything from his abrupt exit and continued doubt over Harry and Meghan’s claims, to his numerous job offers and people coming out in support of him. He said: “Old, young, black, white, it didn’t matter. They’ve been coming up to me in their droves all day every day”.
While universal might be a bit of a stretch, support for Piers from significant sections of the British public cannot be ignored. After more than 80,000 people petitioned to have him reinstated on GMB, Morgan thanked his fans but maintained he would not be coming back.
As you can see in this clip, another equally questionable aspect of the interview is Carlson’s contributions to the discussion, labelling both Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle as simultaneously, “two of the most powerful people in the world” and yet “both claiming to be victims”.
He goes on to say that the two consider themselves “oppressed”, before describing them as “the strong pretending to be weak in order to crush people below them”. Not sure about that one chief – certainly a bit rich of Fox News and Piers Morgan to be telling us who and who is not oppressed.
