Last night’s game was instrumental in restoring the fans faith in their beloved team, and boy, did it work. But one thing remained consistent throughout the game, the booing. From start to finish, England fans booed when Germany did just about anything. People online were heavily critical of it, because to be frank, it’s pathetic.

But one particular scene has frustrated people more than anything else. As the video of a crying German fan appeared on the screen, England fans switched up their game and began to cheer. But this wasn’t an adult; this was a little girl.
Years of Germany destroying us in international tournaments has clearly made some England fans bitter, so much so they need to cheer when a young girl is crying. The irony is that this was a child crying, all you grown men and women look awfully foolish when you do it.

It appears our “patriotism” overshadowed our compassion. But if history is any indicator, next time, she could very likely be the one laughing at crying England fans with deflated St George’s flags flopping over their shoulders.
