We’re almost there.
After waiting months for a brief glimpse of what season six hasĀ in store, Game Of Thrones fans have been feasting on some tantalising trailers and snippets. Here’s some information and speculation that we gleaned from the latest clips.
1) Jon’s new right-hand man?
We alreadyĀ mentioned the reasons why Ser Davos would be prepared toĀ fight againstĀ Ser Alliser Thorne and the mutinous Night’s Watch members, but this showdown over Jon’s corpse seems like it’s going to be central to the opening episode.
2) Dragons v horses
We all know thatĀ Daenerys is in trouble, but it looks like her trusted dragons will be on hand to save the day. This pictureĀ does imply that a lot of theĀ Dothraki cavalry are destined to be dragon fodder – look at how many horsesĀ are lying on the ground.
3) Sansa the slayer
Sophie Turner has spoken about how her character is a “bad ass bitch” in seasonĀ six, andĀ it appears thatĀ Sansa and Theon have successfully escaped theĀ clutches of Ramsay Bolton. Take a look at the sigilĀ on her armour thoug. That’s the Stark wolf.
Are we about to see Sansa become more of a military leader?
4) The biggest bastard is back
We all know that Walder Frey throws the best weddings in Westeros, but we’ve a feeling that House Bolton will need his loyalty more than ever as the battle for the North commences.
This shot could be a throwback to the Red Wedding, but we sense that the Lord of the Crossing will be back at his double-crossing best.
5) The North Remembers
This looks an awful lot like House Bolton engaging in their favourite activity – flaying their enemies. That’s Winterfell in the background also. Can you say Stark v Bolton?
6) Brienne is travelling
As mentioned above, Walder Frey is returning – which means that Brienne and Pod will have vengeance on their minds. That’s the sigil of HouseĀ Tully on that banner implying that the duo are no longer in the North, but in the Riverlands.
7) The night is getting darker
There’s a new Red Priestess in the cityĀ of Mereen…
…and an even colder chill beyond the Wall.
8) King’s Landing is under siege
We didn’t think that Cersei would let that whole “shame, shame, shame!” campaign by the Faith Militant pass without some retaliation – and the capital looks like it’s on the verge of civil war.
Here’sĀ Jamie Lannister, backed by Tyrell soldiers, bearing down on the High Sparrow.
9) Giants and dragons
Is this a Wildling giant that’s breaking down the gates of Winterfell? Now, which former Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch could command the allegiance of the Wildlings after granting them safe passage through the Wall? We know nothing.
Things are heating up for Tyrion in Mereen also. We think that this scene has been altered in theĀ editing room, but it’s interesting to see that Tyrion will be getting closer toĀ Viseryon and Rhaegal.
