Google is experimenting with a big change to its look

Paul Moore

Paint it black.

Google already knows everything, but we’re willing to provide the world’s most popular search engine with a free piece of advice. If the link ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

It seems that they’re not adhering to these words of wisdom though because Google have tested a new colour on its search results for a small number of users Monday, with a very noticeable change.

Instead of the traditional blue links that appear in a Google search, there were black links. As you all know, links are typically displayed in blue, turning purple once they’ve been clicked on.

In a statement given to CNN, Google said that they’re “always running many small scale experiments with the design of the results page”. the experiment seems to have been a failure because Google also stated that they’re “not quite sure that black is the new blue”.

We think that they should have been honest about their reasons for the change. Just admit that “I see a blue link and I want it painted black”.
