The cat (chicken?) is out of the bag now…
Foodies will be shocked to hear the secret recipe behind KFC’s finger licking good fried chicken may have just be revealed by Colonel Sanders nephew.
Yes Colonel Sanders was a real person. Here is a photo of him with Alice Cooper.

Neat huh?
Back to the nephew, and 67 year old Joe Ledington was conducting an interview with the Chicago Tribune newspaper where he showed off the last will and testament of his aunt Claudia, the second wife of The Colonel, Mr. Harland Sanders.
But it appears that written on the back of the will was the recipe for the fried chicken spice blend.
Considering the recipe has been kept under wraps for the past 80 years, this was a heck of a way to reveal the secret blend.

Or at least we think it’s the secret blend. While Ledington said “That is the original 11 herbs and spices that were supposed to be so secretive”, and the Tribune gave the recipe a whirl, KFC were quick to shoot down the recipe list.
Kind of.
“Everyone thinks they have the secret”, declared a spokesperson for the fast food outlet.
Rather cryptic deflection we think. But even if the recipe was real, we doubt KFC would admit as such.
If you want to give Ledington’s recipe a go, all you have to do is mix two cups of white flour to:
- 2/3 Ts salt
- 1/2 Ts thyme
- 1/2 Ts basil
- 1/3 Ts oregano
- 1 Ts celery salt
- 1 Ts black pepper
- 1 Ts dried mustard
- 4 Ts paprika
- 2 Ts garlic salt
- 1 Ts ground ginger
- 3 Ts white pepper
Happy frying now.
