Here are the five highest rated episodes of The Simpsons

Are we all in agreement?

Paul Moore

Do you agree?

We’re firmly of the belief that at the height of its comedic peak, The Simpsons was the best TV show that has ever been made. While the quality of the show has diminished in recent years, there’s no denying the eternal fun that you still get from watching classic episodes.

We’ve previously ranked the most underappreciated one-off characters, as well as offering up some of our most beloved quotes, but what’s the world’s most beloved episode of The Simpsons?

The people of IMDB have spoken and here’s their top 5.

5) Treehouse of Horror V

Plot: The family’s job at Mr. Burns’ country estate goes awry when Homer goes mad. Meanwhile, Homer’s attempt to repair a toaster results in inadvertent time travel, and Bart and Lisa face becoming dinner when the school staff turn cannibalistic.

Sheer genius: Homer’s delivery of this iconic punchline.

4) Who Shot Mr. Burns?: Part 1

Plot: After Mr. Burns steals oil from Springfield Elementary, an unknown person, seemingly in retaliation, shoots him.

Sheer genius: Springfield’s finest police officer making a balls of things again.

3) The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson

Plot: Homer must travel to New York to get his car back, which is illegally parked at World Trade Center Plaza.

Sheer genius: The eternal problem,  Mountain Dew or Crab Juice? Homer’s memories of NYC are absolutely priceless also.

2) You Only Move Twice

Plot: Homer takes a new job in a new town. However, his friendly new boss might be a super villain bent on world domination.

Sheer genius: Hank Scorpio. Enough said.

1) Homer’s Enemy

Plot: Industrious Frank Grimes starts working at the plant beside Homer. He complains to the other employees about how useless Homer is, which causes them to wonder why Frank is being so troublesome.

Sheer genius: We can’t wait to see Grimey’s return but we always did love the fact that “pigs tend to chew. I’d say he eats more like a duck”.
