What the fuck are we going to do when Game of Thrones comes to an end?
All hell is about to break loose in Westeros and it’s getting bloody good, yet in the back of our minds we know there are only 13 episodes left of the show.
Thirteen measly episodes and then that’s it. Nothing. Finished. Over. Goodnight Vienna.
What are we meant to do then? We can’t just move on with our lives. Not after everything that’s happened and everything we’ve been through, even if we get to find out who comes out on top in the Game of Thrones.
There will be mass rioting on the streets unless baying fans of the series are given more blood, guts and gore from Daenerys, Cersei, Jon Snow and Co.
Here at JOE we’ve already explored some of the angles from the show that could be turned into stand-alone series.
There are so many great stories to tell from ‘The Long Night’ 8,000 years ago when Westeros first learned about the White Walkers or how Valyria, the most advanced civilisation in Westeros, descend into a century of blood, chaos and utter annihilation.

It’s not just us that are thinking about how the story could be developed, HBO aren’t just going to let their most-watched series ever just die off.
HBO bigwigs confirmed they are already working on the perfect angle for a Game of Thrones spin-off that could quench the thirst of GoT fans once it comes to an end.
Casey Bloys, HBO programming president, told The Hollywood Reporter: “There are so many properties and areas to go to. For us, it’s about finding the right take with the right writer.”
It doesn’t appear that current Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss fancy the gig writing for any potential spin-off. The pair recently ruled themselves out, with Benioff saying: “You might want to ask George [R.R. Martin] about that. It’s a great world George created and a very rich world. I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us this is it.”
Bloys, though, struck a more positive note about the prospect of the heavy-hitting pair reuniting to write more Game of Thrones gold.
“You’re getting them right when they’re about to embark on production,” Bloys said. “It’s a big, big commitment for them, not just their creative force, but also their family life. They’re gone for months at a time.
“So it’s a big, big thing. But should we find a property that makes sense as a spinoff or a prequel — whatever you want to say — I would not expect them to do it, because they’re going to need to decompress for a good amount of time, but it would certainly be nice to have their involvement in some way. At what level? I have no idea.”

HBO is yet to actively investigate the next step for the franchise just yet, according to Bloys who said:Â “Not yet. There are things that sound interesting, but at this point, we have no writers assigned or anything like that.
“In a perfect world, Game of Thrones would keep going, and we wouldn’t have to deal with any of this!”
But don’t let that get you downhearted. The great creator of the whole thing, George R.R. Martin, says he’s sitting on a mountain of gold in terms of material for spin-offs, prequels and sequels for a hungry television audience.
“I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones,” Martin said at the Emmys. “So there’s a wealth of material there and I’m still writing more.”
