Finally a definitive answer...

Ben Kenyon

What’s the greatest film of all time?

This is a question that has dogged mankind since the dawn of the apes…well, at least since folk started going to the cinema.

You’ve got true classics like Raging Bull and Casablanca coming up against timeless greats like Shawshank Redemption and modern epics like Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight in various Top 100 film lists on the internet.

But now one Redditor has solved the riddle for good. He’s created the list to end all lists, at the top of which stands the greatest cinematic work ever created.

The movie buff combined all the scores from critics and users on the top film sites including IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and Letterboxd to create an average score.

Drum roll please….the Number 1 film of all time is…..The Godfather.

We all kind of knew it would be there or there abouts, but this definitive Top 1001 Greatest Movies of All Time list now proves the 1972 mob classic, starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, is top dog.

Here are the top 10 films – Spice World must have just missed out.
