Here’s your first look at the emoji movie everyone wanted

Featuring a "jaunty poop".

Now, before you kick off, please remember, the Emojimovie could turn out really, REALLY good.

Remember how no one gave The LEGO Movie a chance and it turned out to be one of the smartest, most subversive and downright hilarious films of the last five years? (Seriously, if you haven’t seen The LEGO Movie yet, go fix that).

Emojimovie could be that, another great film that Trojan horses an amazing plot about the power of creativity in while impressing with a cool visual style and loads of sight gags.

What? One of the characters is the poop emoji?

Oh. Well it could still turn out good. It’s got T.J. Miller from Deadpool and Ilana Glazer off Broad City, and James Corden is gonna do his “I’m James Corden and really happy about everything” thing.

This could work.

What? Sony’s official synopsis for the film calls it an “app-venture”?

Emojimovie: Express Yourself unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression – except for Gene (T.J. Miller), an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become ‘normal’ like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Ilana Glazer). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.

Hey now, it’ll be directed by Anthony Leondis who did decent jobs doing the *looks at notes scribbled on hand* Lilo & Stitch… 2 and the straight to video sequel to “Emperor’s New Groove”.

This can still work.  Just look at it it’s not that bad.

It can still work, it could still be… ah fuck, we’re going to watch it and don’t care either way.

Emojimovie: Express Yourself is out in cinemas August 11, 2017.
