Christian Bale is interested in being in Star Wars and he hasn’t seen Ben Affleck’s Batman yet

Paul Moore

Imagine him in a Star Wars film. Amazing!

It’s very likely that some Batman fans will still remember the furore and controversy that surrounded Tim Burton’s decision to cast Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader. Prior to wearing the cape and cowl, Keaton was more commonly known for his comedic turns in Mr. Mom, Beetlejuice, and The Dream Team, but his performance as Batman quickly won over the critics.

Ignoring the films that starred Val Kilmer and George Clooney, there was no such anger at the decision to cast Christian Bale in Batman Begins because film fans knew that the Weklsh actor would absolutely nail it. This being said, there were criticisms about the decision to cast Heath Ledger as The Joker…how wrong those proved to be!

After Christopher Nolan and Bale stepped away from the Batman franchise, it’s fair to say that Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder’s (Joss Whedon to a certain extent) take on the Dark Knight hasn’t matched the superb standards that were set by Nolan and Bale.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League were terrible films and during an interview with MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bale said that he hasn’t seen Affleck’s take on Batman but he is interested in doing so.

“Yes, I’m interested [in seeing Ben Affleck’s performance]. My son seemed like he was really interested, but then I realized he just wanted to see that trailer and that was it. And, you know, I tend to go see films that [my kids] want to see,” he said.

Bale added: “I have to confess, I’m not a huge superhero film fan. People seem surprised at that. I don’t know why. But I’ve not seen any of the Avengers films or any of those films at all. I hear they’re very good, but I’m quite happy just hearing they’re very good.”

With his new film Hostiles being released, 2018 looks set to be another busy year for the talented actor but he hasn’t ruled out a role in Star Wars. In fact, he’s openly campaigning for it.

“Star Wars, I’m a huge fan. Star Wars really interests me. I’ve still got the Millennium Falcon. I’ve got the AT-AT. I hope there’ll be future discussions,” he said.

Mmm, Christian Bale in a Star Wars film. Now that Force would be strong with that!
