Cillian Murphy is an absolute champ of a man. This is lovely.
A few days ago, Cillian Murphy delighted us all by saying that Season 4 of Peaky Binders is set to air in November. We can’t wait!
That superb trailer has whetted our appetites and we’re absolutely pumped to to see the Shelby gang returning to our screens.
To promote the new season, the talented Irish actor was attending a Q&A to launch The Esquire Townhouse with Dior at Carlton Terrace in London.
Aside from answering questions about the show, Murphy also talked about David Bowie’s seismic influence on his overall career.
“He was such a huge, massive and important figure for me growing up – especially in terms of what you can do, and what you should do, as an artist. He was a fan of the show and luckily I met him.  Obviously, he gave us some of his music to use in the show and we sent him the cap from Season 1 and he loved it.”
Fans of the show might remember Bowie’s single Lazarus being used in the scene when Tommy Shelby’s beaten unconscious by the henchmen of Father Hughes (Paddy Considine).
Regarding Tommy’s journey and where he is at the start of Season 4, the star of 28 Days Later and Inception said : “When you watch Season 3, it really ended badly for them as a family and a unit (the Shelbys). Tommy always has a plan. He always has a plan, a way out , a strategy, an escape route or something, but when we meet them, he’s isolated. He’s not thinking about it, but he’s just getting along. He’s not in a great place, he’s getting on with his life but it’s fractured.”
As for the overall feel of the show, Murphy said that “we’re four series in and it still gets better and better.”
If that doesn’t get you even more excited for Season4, nothing will!
