A totally necessary move.
The 45th President of the United States is getting quite the upgrade on his personal 747 jumbo jet, to the tune of an especially cool $24 million.
According to a report in US national security publication Defense One, American taxpayers will foot the enormous bill for Air Force One’s new refrigerators, fulfilling the requirement to feed passengers and crew for weeks without having to resupply.
That breaks down to storing around 3,000 meals in massive fridges and freezers beneath the passenger cabin.
Boeing was awarded a $23.7 million contract to replace the two outgoing refrigerators, which have been in operation since 1990.
Vice president of analysis at the Teal Group consulting firm, Richard Aboulafia, told Defense One: “It’s not a contractor issue, it is a requirements issue,” adding “it’s not getting people rich.”
Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz took to Twitter to note that Barack Obama “would have been impeached” had the previous administration pulled the same stunt.

Trump has previously criticised the cost of two new Air Force One planes, threatening to cancel the order in December of 2016.
Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!

His new bespoke fridges are expected to be up and running by October of next year.
