Donald Trump’s first dance as president with wife Melania couldn’t be more awkward

This was just weird.

We’ve got more than a few questions about Donald Trump’s first dance on his inauguration day.

First up, why does the incoming leader of the free world even have a first dance? Is it some kind of weird prom king culture which has found its way towards the upper echelons of American politics?

Secondly, was it really wise for President Trump to opt for Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’, a song which begins with the line ‘and now the end is near’?

And thirdly, what in fresh hell was any of this.

President Donald Trump was inaugurated on Friday, succeeding Barack Obama in the United States’ highest office.

And, at the traditional Liberty Ball, he shared a dance with wife Melania to a cover of the Sinatra classic.

So far, so (relatively) okay.

But during the dance, Melania seems like a distraction for President Trump’s stated aim of grinning at the camera and – for some reason – singing along.

She looked on awkwardly as he seemed to ignore her and wave at the crowd, even throwing in a mini fist-pump towards the end of this MSNBC clip.

It’s going to be an interesting four years if this is anything to go by.
