“Dunkirk and the legend of it is something that British people grow up with – it’s in our DNA.” This could be amazing.
Believe it or not, but there are some people that have already started to have some doubts about Christopher Nolan’s upcoming WWII epic, Dunkirk.
Yep, people are questioning the man who made Inception, The Prestige, Memento and The Dark Knight trilogy.
Why is this? Well, the fact that it has received a PG-13 rating from the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) has caused some people to raise their eyebrows.
Basically, in Nolan’s upcoming epic, you won’t be seeing any blown off limbs or oceans of blood being sprayed on the screen.
Truth be told, we’re not worried at all because Nolan has already proven his ability to create action, drama and intensity without resorting to OTT violence.
For example, he managed to make The Joker incredibly dangerous, intense and violent with just a pencil and a knife. That’s skill.
The director was at CinemaCon to present some new footage from the film and it appears that those in attendance were absolutely blown away with what they saw.

Nolan said that he sees his take on Operation Dynamo as “one of the greatest stories of human history” while adding that “Dunkirk and the legend of it is something that British people grow up with — it’s in our DNA.”
“They were faced with the choice between surrender and annihilation. The fact that this story ends in neither is why I believe Dunkirk to be one of the greatest stories in human history…It’s the ultimate suspense story”, he said.
The movie has a seriously heavyweight cast: Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh all star, alongside a young unknown by the name of Harry Styles all feature, and audiences were treated to a brief glimpse of what’s in store.
Consider this to be your spoiler alert klaxon.
In the five-minute “prologue” clip, soldiers carry a wounded man to a medic ship while bombs land in the water nearby. Tom Hardy’s character then shoots down a German plane, only to run out of gas and stall out in the middle of the sky.
Dunkirk is set to be released in July 2017 in IMAX, 70mm, 35mm and digital. We can’t wait.
