We also got a cameo from Samwell Tarly and Harington’s actual wife.
In terms of the major points that fans are excited about in Season 8 of Game of Thrones, the list is longer than the amount of titles that Daenerys Targaryen has to her name.
For example, we’ve got the Battle of Winterfell, Cleganebowl, Arya reuniting with Jon, the battle for the Iron Throne (if there’s still one left), Theon Greyjoy attempting to rescue Yara from Euron, the potential of King’s Landing being destroyed, death, destruction, and countless other plot points to increase the excitement levels.
However, one conversation that everyone is looking forward to seeing is the inevitable chat between Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen and his aunt/lover, Daenerys Targaryen, about Jon’s true lineage.
Yep, incest has never been so interesting because when Bran/Sam tells Jon about his parentage and the fact that he’s the true heir to the Iron Throne, we’re very interested to see Dany’s reaction.
Who knows? Maybe they’ll both be cool with some aunt and nephew romance? Yikes!
Well, now that the early hours of 15 April are drawing closer, it’s time for the actors to promote the hell out of the show and there’s no better way to get your name out there than by hosting Saturday Night Live.
Granted, the entire world knows that Season 8 of Game of Thrones is coming but being the good sport that he is, Kit Harington decided to shake off the brooding image of his most famous character and have a few laughs on the popular sketch show.
As is the norm, the actor had to deliver an opening monologue on SNL but he had a few familiar faces in the crowd for moral support.
It turns out that Emilia Clarke’s memory about what she filmed for Season 8 isn’t that good but she does remember that famous sex scene that she filmed at the end of Season 7 with Harington.
To make things even more awkward for Harington, his wife Rose Leslie (Ygritte in Game of Thrones) was also in the audience to ask him even more ‘tough’ questions.
Thankfully, John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) was nearby to offer his good friend some support.
Sam couldn’t sandbag Jon. Right?
Well, take a look for yourself.
As for the skits, this promo for some of the potential Game of Thrones spin-offs was pretty decent.
Take a look.
