How many have you seen?
Like any art form, film is subjective but if there’s one outlet that knows quality when they see it, it’s renowned magazine Empire because their 100 greatest movies list is an institution.
Every year, they ask 5,000 film fans to vote for their favourite films and it’s very likely that you’ve seen a fair few of them.
Regarding new titles that have made the list, we’re delighted to see Whiplash getting some love as Damien Chazelle’s film is one of the highest new entries at 57th.
Some of the other ‘newish’ films that made the grade were the Amy Adams-starring Arrival at 95, 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road at 38, 2014’s Interstellar at 47 and 2011’s Drive at 45.
The influx of superhero films has definitely registered with viewers because Captain America: Civil War (79), Avengers Assemble (65) and Guardians of the Galaxy (34) all feature.
Here’s the top 10 in full and you can see all 500 films when the new edition of the magazine is released this week.
