Twitter found the tweet almost immediately

Trolls have resurfaced a four-year-old tweet from Alec Baldwin in a heartless attempt to shame the actor over the accidental shooting of two people on a movie set.

Baldwin was filming a western in New Mexico called ‘Rust’ on Thursday when he shot two colleagues, director Joel Souza and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, with a prop gun.

Hutchins, 42, later died in hospital. Souza, 48, is believed to have received treatment but has since been discharged.

On Friday, a tweet sent by Baldwin in September 2017, began recirculating on social media. It read: “I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone…”

The tweet related to a shooting in California and Baldwin attached an article by the LA Times.

Twitter users on Friday started replying to the tweet, attaching clippings from media reports of the ‘Rust’ shooting.

“This did not age well,” tweeted one person, to which another said, “Two completely different situations.”

“Twitter needs to remember a woman has died. It may be memealicious content to you, but a woman was killed. Remember her please guys. Thank you,” tweeted another.

Another user wrote: “People coming at him for accidentally killing someone. It was a prop gun. Blame the people making the movie on why it has bullets. I don’t know why we are comparing this tweet. To his situation.”

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department earlier confirmed it was called to the Bonanza Creek Ranch movie set of the western ‘Rust’ after a  “911 caller reported a shooting on the set”.

“The sheriff’s office confirms that two individuals were shot on the set of Rust. Halyna Hutchins, 42, director of photography and Joel Souza, 48, director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 63, producer and actor.”
