“Only a matter of time” until there’s an all-female Avengers movie, says Letitia Wright

“It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”

Black Panther star Letitia Wright has said she thinks an all-female Avengers movie is an inevitability.

The idea has spread following the climactic scene in Avengers: Endgame where all of the the MCU’s female heroes  – including Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Scarlett Witch and Valkyrie – all came together in one iconic shot to fight Thanos.

Speaking to Yahoo, Wright, who of course plays Shuri in Black Panther, thinks it is only a matter of time before it happens.

“I don’t think we have to fight for it,” she told Yahoo. “[Marvel Studios executive] Victoria Alonso is very strong about spearheading it, alongside [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige]. It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”

Kevin Fiege is reportedly on-board with the idea, and is even willing to put his job on the line for it.

And who would be in Letitia Wright’s dream Avengers line-up for the potential film? “Definitely have to have Captain Marvel, definitely,” she replied. She also wants to see Black Panther‘s Okoye, Nakia and Ramonda, along with Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok.

Wright has been vocal about the female Avengers movie happening for a while. In November 2019, she told Harper’s Bazaar: “That group of actresses is so incredibly powerful and when they come together, it’s explosive and unstoppable. So yes, I’m pushing for that. I think audiences want it and I’m definitely one of them.”

Letitia Wright also spoke to Yahoo about what playing Shuri means to her.

“It was always a dream of mine to play someone that can be impactful not only for Black women but also just for women around the world and young people, too,” she explained.

“To be able to have a combination of people and audience members who are so thrilled and appreciative of Shuri is a good feeling. I feel like I contributed something positive in the world.”
